Since our inaugural NYCA season in 1995 we now have almost 300 alumni! This is your invitation to our alumni season, and a chance for NYCAns past and present to meet and share experiences old and new.

Past and present NYCAns are invited to be in Melbourne for a quick but intensive rehearsal period culminating in a livestreamed concert. The NYCA 2027 invitational will run from

Thursday 14th January to Sunday 17th January 2027 in Melbourne, VIC

Singers will rehearse and perform at St Mark’s Fitzroy, located 10mins from the city centre, and surrounded by tonnes of Melbourne’s best eateries. The draft schedule will look like the following, allowing plenty of time to explore Melbourne and catch-up with old friends.

  • Thursday January 14th - Rehearsal 1pm-3pm, 4pm-6pm

  • Friday January 15th - Rehearsal 10am-1pm, 3pm-6pm, evening social dinner (optional)

  • Saturday January 16th - Rehearsal 10am-1pm

  • Sunday January 17th - Rehearsal, concert, refreshments, debrief 1230pm-430pm

It will be different from a “normal” NYCA season in many ways:

  • It will be shorter (just four days)

  • It will not be residential (some singers will arrange their own accommodation, some will be billeted, some will provide billets – just like NYCA used to be)

  • There will be no charge, except for the cost of sheet music ($100 in advance, non-refundable)

  • There will be no new audition: if you’ve sung in NYCA, you’re invited.

  • Singers will be expected to be familiar with the music before they arrive. (A couple of online sessions will be scheduled to help this preparation.)

  • Singers’ ages will range from 19 to over 50 and their experience will be VAST!

  • The weather will actually be warm!
