Emily CoxKnown as a leader in Australian choral music, Emily Cox is founding Music Director of Canticum Chamber Choir, Music Director of the acclaimed symphonic choir, the Brisbane Chorale and Lecturer (part-time) in choral studies at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University where she teaches conducting on the undergraduate and postgraduate level, and directs the Conservatorium Chamber Choir. Emily is also Choir Director at historic St Mary's Anglican Church, Kangaroo Point.

As a conductor and chorus master with a broad repertoire, Emily's work with Canticum Chamber Choir and Brisbane Chorale provides frequent collaborations with The Queensland Orchestra, as well as with major music festivals, and in frequent broadcasts on ABC Classic FM and 4MBS. A leading diocesan musician, Emily is known in Brisbane for her work as Artistic & Musical Director of Anglicare's PromPraise. She is involved in the education programmes of the RSCM Australia, directing choral conducting and singing workshops, and appearing as guest tutor and conductor at RSCM summer schools. She has also enjoyed working as a clinician with ANCA (the Australian National Choral Association), Queensland Branch.

A graduate of Dartmouth College (U.S.A.) and the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Emily often works in Europe with noted specialists in her field. She is in demand for her dynamic work as a festival and workshop director, adjudicator and choral educator for all age groups. A highlight in the history of her ensemble Canticum Chamber Choir was its invitation to perform at the prestigious 7th World Symposium on Choral Music, held in Kyoto, Japan in 2005. Through the innovative repertoire she explores with all her ensembles, she continually introduces audiences to many unusual and beautiful works.

Emily returns to NYCA as Music Director for the 2009 season, last having worked with the choir in its 1997 season.
