Meet NYCA singer Michael Dimovski (VIC)
Tell us about your musical background... I started learning how to play the piano when I was Seven, later on I was introduced to Musical theatre and performing at the start of high school. For me singing started to become serious when I did Classical Voice for VCE Music performance, leading me to pursue it at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music.
How many NYCA seasons have you participated in? This will be my second season of NYCA, My first was last year in Melbourne.
Why are you coming back to NYCA? It was a fantastic first experience for me last year, I learned a great deal that really progressed my skills as a musician. I loved the intensity of the program and how it really tests my skills. And I made a number of great friends last year that I would love to see again.
What I’m looking forward to most about the 2016 season is… Singing again with some fantastic musicians while experiencing some great performance venues in Melbourne and Bendigo. I am also definitely looking forward to working with David Hill and all the NYCAns from last year.
What’s coming up for you next? After NYCA I will be in Melbourne Opera’s chorus for their production of Tannhäuser in August. After that, a few major performances through Melbourne University.
Michael performs with the National Youth Choir of Australia in our 21st Anniversary Season under international director David Hill (UK).
